Dog training is about developing a life long, genuine partnership with your dog.

I offer dog training and behavior consultation on a one on one basis. My ultimate goal is to enhance the human/canine understanding and bond and help you to create a true working partnership with your dog.  I am the coach and the facilitator. You are the one who will build your relationship with your dog.

Working closely with individuals or families and their dogs in the environment they live in allows all of us to agree on the type of behavior they want from their dog as well as consistent commands and signals used to communicate.  Human partner(s)'  involvement in the process is crucial. In all situations I will ask for a commitment from individuals or family members to spend the time, to have the patience and to discipline themselves in the art of consistency.

I  emphasize that patience and consistency are the most important skills in working with animals. Dogs like consistency. Dogs like a routine. Dogs like calm. Dogs are opportunists. Dogs are the greatest optimists in the world too!

I like to set up for success, often starting with simple, even contrived situations, which will allow your dog to focus on one thing at a time without distractions. This will allow you and your dog the greatest chance for success, which can be rewarded and built upon. This will build you and your dog's confidence.  Confidence is the key to success and reliability.

Once we have achieved success in simple situations, we can gradually introduce distractions and more real life situations for your dog as we continue to encourage and shape desired behavior.

All of my training uses humane, gentle and positive techniques to shape behavior.  I use a mix of marker training,  lure/reward and target training, complete with a healthy dose of common sense and good humor.
